Barcelona Design Week returns

Israel is the guest country for the event which, from the 2nd to the 14th of June, will include workshops, conferences, design circuits and exhibitions, among other activities

The 9th edition of Barcelona Design Week (BDW) is just around the corner. From the 2nd to the 14th of June the event will host conferences, exhibitions and workshops as well as networking events and design circuits as part of its programme of activities.

As a springboard for the Barcelona Design Festival, this year’s BDW will focus on the relationship between business enterprise, innovation, design and creativity, and conference speakers will include designers the likes of Israel’s Ron Arad, eco-designer Sophie Thomas and Oded Friedland, the founder of Monkey Business.

This year’s guest country is Israel, who will regale visitors with an exhibition of the most unconventional designs in recent years, Out of the Box, and will participate in both the Design Talks, in which local and Israeli designers will explain the creative process behind a variety of entertaining and surprising products, and the BCN-Israel start-up connection, a series of chats concerning business enterprise and creativity.

For those who would rather stretch their legs, the Design Circuit Poblenou is a walking tour of numerous architecture and design studios in the Sant Martí district that have opened their doors to visitors for the event. Those mentioned here are just some of the activities in an extensive series of events that have been programmed throughout the city and which will be complemented by OFF BDW, a programme of parallel events organised by some of the city’s businesses and organisations.
