Barcelona City Soundtrack, the emotional power of music

The CitySoundtrack project is designed to create a whole new emotional experience, which can be enjoyed by App.

From the Direcció de Creativitat i Innovació we want to build bridges to enable the convergence of cultural and technological sector, facilitating entrepreneurship and the creation of start- ups.

The CitySoundtrack project has started its way with the initial support of the Institut de Cultura de l’Ajuntament de Barcelona (ICUB) and the entre d’investigació i desenvolupament del Barcelona Laboratori (BCNLab). These entities have accelerated the rapprochement between the two sides, the creative and technological, as well as those who have given economic support to push through such an ambitious project.

Albert Puig, producer of the project told to BCNInnovació "The original idea for this project stems from the desire to create a sound map of the most emblematic sites of a city, building a great soundtrack that enhances the emotional character of a simple look at any ourist space."

The mobile application has been realized thanks to the collaboration of musicians, producers and computer engineers, and through geolocation that plays music specifically created for certain areas of the city. The melodies sound depending on the movement of each person who creates a personalized experience.

The idea of making sound postcards belongs to the musicians Pere Jou (Quart Primer) and Aurora Bauzà, and with the help of Albert Puig producer and computer engineers Wernfried Lackner i Stefan Kersten (Samplecount). Currently, it started playing music at 10 venues around the city like the church of Santa María del Mar and the Sagrada Familia. In the future he plans to expand to other cities.
