ArtTower: The Besòs Water Tower overtaken by art

This free activity will take place on 17 and 18 September

One of the icons of the Poblenou skyline and a symbolic building that was restored a few year ago, the Besós Water Tower (Torre de les Aigües del Besòs) now regularly hosts culture-related events, one of which is the ArtTower project. Scheduled for the 17th and 18th of September, ArtTower offers a sample of the contemporary cultural, artistic and cultural production of the Poblenou neighbourhood, through exhibitions, multimedia installations, concerts, sports activities and an art and crafts fair.

This event also offers attendees the chance to explore the history of the neighbourhood and of the tower itself, which has inspired depictions by artists including Ramon Calsina, Josep M. Subirachs and Joan Pallarès.

Participants in ArtTower include visual artists  Mercè Girona and Virginia Patrone and the musical groups Mampön and Deseisaocho. Admission is free though there is a charge of €2 to visit the terrace with its panoramic views. Activities on Saturday are scheduled to run from 3pm to 3am while Sunday’s will be from 11am to midnight.
