'The Reading' by Renoir reproduced on the shutters of a shop in Carrer de Can Bruixa

Great works of art on shopfront shutters

The Pinacoteca a Cel Obert project will decorate 24 shutters with paintings by Van Gogh, Renoir and Rusiñol.

When shops are closed, works of art are born. Specifically, 24 shops in the Eix Sants-Les Corts shopping area will be decorated with reproductions of great works of art thanks to a project named La Pinacoteca a Cel Obert. Jalón de Aquiles and Lucie Blin are the artists who have been commissioned to reproduce paintings by Rossetti, Sorolla, Renoir, Millet, Van Gogh and Rusiñol, among other well-known painters, while ensuring that the subject matter of the works has a direct relationship with the activity of the business whose shutters will be painted.

You’ll find these images on the following five streets: Galileo, Can Bruixa, Europa, Vallespir and Joan Güell. The initiative is promoted by the districts of Les Corts and Sants - Montjuïc, with the collaboration of Eix Comercial Sants - Les Corts and the coordination of the Rebobinart art platform.

You can visit this grand outdoor art gallery on your own, but we recommend that you sign up for the free guided tour that will take place on Sunday 22 April, at 11.30am, during which the meaning and history of the works reproduced will be discussed. Places on the tour scheduled for 8 April have already sold out, so act quickly to register for the tour on 22 April. You can do that at the following email address:  rutespinacoteca@rebobinart.com.
