 Dart Festival

The finest films on contemporary art at the Dart Festival

Over the course of four days, Cinemes Girona will screen a total of ten documentaries, some of which have never been seen, about important figures in the field of the visual arts.

As its name may suggest, the Dart Festival is about art, and more specifically about contemporary art: photographers, painters, sculptors, architects and other creators who have widened the boundaries of our perception and have enriched our lives during recent decades. The Dart Festival aims to fill a very specific audience niche – basically targetting art students and art enthusiasts in general - and does so with a very carefully selected set of documentary films, the vast majority of which have never been screened in Spain, though 'Mapplethorpe: Look at the Pictures', for example, has appeared on television. The Dart Festival will take place from 30 November 30 to 3 December at Cinemes Girona.

The festival features documentaries on important figures such as Maurizio Cattelan, Eva Hesse, Harald Szeemann, Tania Bruguera and Leonora Carrington, all of them recent – dating from 2016 or 2017 – which combine the best in cinema with the finest contemporary art.
