Apropa Cultura: making culture more accessible

The second week of activities will take place from 24 to 30 October

Access to culture is a right but not a reality for many people. That’s why Apropa Cultura came into being with the aim of organising meetings, workshops, guided visits and other initiatives that make culture more easily accessible for handicapped people. The campaign is aimed at organisations and centres that work with a variety of collectives including people with physical and psychological handicaps, elderly people, immigrants, people deprived of freedom, victims of gender violence and, indeed, any group of people who are at risk of exclusion.

From 24 to 30 October, the Aropa Cultura program will be marking its 10th anniversary, and there will be a celebration at  L'Auditori bringing together the people responsible for the programme at 7pm on 24 October in Sala 2 at L'Auditori. Special guests include dancer and choreographer Cesc Gelabert, a quartet featuring musicians from the OBC, the soprano Begoña Alberdi and the Cor Apropa.

Other activities included in the celebrations include special sessions of the play El filósofo declara at Teatre Romea (the whole week), a performance by Quartet Gerhard at Palau de la Música (24 October), a morning orchestra performance for people with Alzheimer’s disease (25 October) and special performances of Celestina at Teatre Nacional de Catalunya (26 and 27 October).
