The "Any Espriu" opening ceremony takes place in the Palau de la Música

Xavier Albertí directs this staged tribute next Wednesday, the 23rd of January

 

This year marks the centenary of the birth of the poet Salvador Espriu.
 
The anniversary will be commemorated throughout the year with the events programme Any Espriu 1913/2013. Ens mantindrem fidels. The celebrations are directed by Xavier Bru de Sala, and include a series of cultural, civic and participative activities designed to increase awareness of the poet’s work and commemorate his commitment to the community.
The inaugural ceremony for Any Espriu will take place in the Palau de la Música on the 23rd of January with an artistic proposal at the hands of Xavier Albertí, the future director of the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya.
 
During the upcoming months Barcelona will be presenting several exhibitions : Viladecans-Sinera, which will be opened on the 24th January and which will be opened until the 28th February in the City Room of the Town Council of Barcelona; He mirat aquesta terra, in the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB), La càbala i Espriu, in the Arts Santa Mònica and, finally,  a collection of sculptures  inspired by the popular figures and puppet world  created by Espriu will be on display throughout the city's streets.
