Angular Beers, a community of programmers who want to democratize technology

This community, that now exceeds 400 members, is organizing meet ups that help create synergies among developers who have a different way of doing and seeing the world.

Last April, Angular Beers, was created in Barcelona, a meeting of programmers that aims to integrate different communities to do projects that help improve society. "In Barcelona there was no such community where people are not afraid to ask what and how things are done. We wanted to create a meeting point to share knowledge and experiences," says David Pich, one of the initiators of Angular Beers, an initiative supported by the Direcció de Creativitat i Innovació de l’ICUB.

Under the slogan "Curiosity kills Boredom, Nothing can kill Curiosity", the community is being formed from a number of aspects: it’s a non-profit initiative of the community, for the community; technology must help people, the most important thing is the people, not the talks. Moreover, Angular Beers is defined as an open space where people can express, talk, learn and share without fear and with passion, being inclusive with other hangouts.

Among its actions, Angular Beers is organizing meet ups that help create synergies among developers who have a different way of doing and seeing the world. During this time, they have been recognized by Google as community partners Angular JS, the community has not stopped growing and surpassing the 400 members and has received support from several technology companies.

In addition, Angular Beers will soon have a fixed space to carry out their meet ups, workshops and lectures to introduce the program to the people interested. "Our idea is to act locally bringing technology to people. The engineers often only think about giving solutions to companies, but we often forget that if we approach people we, as developers, can change our environment" David Pich says.
