Andrea de Castro and Pixie Dixie pay a tribute to Amy Winehouse in the Jamboree

The concert is programmed for the 20th of August as part of the Mas i Mas Festival

The young singer Andreas de Castro has proposed a recreation of the songs of Amy Winehouse two years after the untimely death of the British artist. For the purposes of this ambitious project, De Castro will be using jazz stylings for some of the key songs popularised by the late singer.

The band Pixie Dixie, led by trumpet player Wilfred Terrades, has been given the job of providing the musical backing for the project, titled The Music of Amy Winehouse. Carles Juste “Beethoven” on saxophone and flute, Jordi Mestre on guitar, Max Villavecchia on keyboards, Miquel Torà on bass and Joan Andreu on drums form the remainder of a line-up that, in an attempt to avoid imitation, will be taking a fresh, original approach to the tribute.

Amy Winehouse died on the 23rd of July, 2011, at 27 years of age, leaving behind the myth of a controversial and self-destructive character that, as with Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin or Jimi Hendrix, goes beyond the unquestionable merits of her music.
