"Among the clouds a clearing", third VHIR's Scientific Beer

On October 7 the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) organizes an interdisciplinary dialogue around research, economics and science.

The third VHIR scientific beer will take place on October 7 at 7 pm in the Antigua Fábrica de Estrella Damm (Rossello 515, Barcelona).

The Scientific beer, one of the activities that VHIR has prepared to celebrate its 20th anniversary, is based on an interdisciplinary dialogue of any current scientific matter among recognized experts of three different but complementary areas. With dynamism, plain language and an informal tone, the guest speakers will introduce briefly some ideas for debate. The audience will then be invited to join the conversation with questions and open direct discussions with the guests, thus allowing closeness between them and enjoying the privilege to have first rate experts to satisfy their queries.

After achieving an eight-thousand and finding a needle in a haystack, this time we will look at the sky and find a clearing through the clouds. What does a storm mean in science? And in economics? Can we make predictions without creating alarm? Being able to distinguish between a downpour and a tsunami is a challenge that is part of both scientific and economic worlds. To solve all these questions, and the wants that may arise, we have three guests to offer their points of view:

Patricia Pozo-Rosich. Neurologist at the Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron and head of the research group of Headache and Neurological pain at VHIR.

Ricard Pujol. Head of the Immunology service at Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron and the Immunology research group at VHIR. Research advisor at the ICS.

Vicente Ortún. Dean and professor at the Faculty of Economic Sciences at UPF. Researcher, exdirector and founder of the Centre d’Economia i Salut (CRES).

Lluís Amiguet, journalist, La Contra on La Vanguardia, will moderate the third talk.

Entrance price: 5 euros, registration here.
