The Alternativa Festival celebrates its 25th anniversary

The Independent Film Festival pays tribute to women film editors.

The Alternativa Independent Film Festival of Barcelona is set to celebrate 25 years of history by showcasing free, innovative and committed cinema. It is one of the longest standing film festivals in Barcelona and one that does the most to foster dialogue, debate, active participation and education, though without forgetting to celebrate and screen good films. This year the festival has two official sections featuring feature and short films and a number of parallel sections such as Panorama, She Cuts and Little Experiments with films for younger cinema-goers. As usual, a series of activities, seminars and screenings will also feature the festival’s special guests, who this year will be female film editors like Molly Malene Stensgaard, Dede Allen Ana Pfaff and Diana Toucedo, as well as the renowned film director Boris Lehman.

The Independent Film Festival of Barcelona will take place from 12 to 18 November at the CCCB Centre for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona and other venues including the Filmoteca and Cinema Zumzeig. To celebrate its 25th anniversary there will also be a special section featuring short films on the history of the festival. Festival-goers will also find master classes, creation workshops, round table discussions and, for the ninth consecutive year, special sessions for professionals.

Various ticket options exist and there are also a number of free sessions. Additional information is available at the following link.
