51st edition of the Francesc Viñas International Song Contest

The Grand Final will be held on Sunday the 19th of January in the Liceu

The Francesc Viñas International Song Contest has been held every year since 1963 in honour of Catalan tenor Francesc Viñas. Aided by the promotion of Jacinto Vilardell, the contest unites singers from all over the globe and is one of the most important competitions in the world for opera and lied singers.

The final round of the competition and the award-winners gala concert are held every year during the month of January in the Gran Teatre del Liceu and are accompanied by the Gran Teatre del Liceu Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Guerassim Voronkov. This year the Final Round will be held on the 17th of January, beginning at 3 pm, and the Gala Concert on Sunday the 19th, beginning at 6 pm. Both events are open to the general public.

Last year’s awards for the best male and female voices went to Polish baritone Michal Jakub Partyka and Lithuanian soprano Katerina Tretyakov and previous winners of the competition include such illustrious names as Catalan baritone Vicenç Sardinero and Valencian soprano Enedina Lloris.
