The 3rd edition of “Bicicletada Modernista” (A Modernist Bike Ride)

This peculiar bike ride takes in a number of the city’s modernist buildings and will take place on Sunday, the 2nd of June

For the third year running, the Bicicletada Modernista will gather together urban cycling enthusiasts for a route that takes in some of the city’s the most emblematic buildings of this particular architectural movement. Beginning at ten in the morning, the participants, in period costumes, will have the opportunity to cycle through the city while taking in over thirty of the more emblematic modernist buildings in the city of Barcelona.

The route begins on the corner of Portal de l’Àngel and carrer Montsió and includes modernist buildings such as Casa Terrades/Casa de les Punxes, on la Diagonal, to the Palau Montaner, on carrer Mallorca. Some of the buildings are very well known, but others are well hidden in the maze of the city’s streets. Half way along the route, the participants will pass by the Museu del Modernisme Català, the organisers of the route, where they will make a technical pit-stop for hot chocolate served by the famous restaurant Els Quatre Gats

Any type of bicycle can be used for this original proposal – road bikes, mountain bike, urban, fixies, trial, tandems, etc. – but period dress is a must. Inscription is free but places are limited. The route is the final event in the 9th edition of the Barcelona Modernist Fair, which takes place from the 31st of May to the 2nd of June.
