Barcelona Comic Fair

The Barcelona Comic Fair, a classic with 36 editions behind it

This comic and graphic novel festival celebrates a new edition at Fira de Barcelona, with high-level local and international guests.

The ritual of the Barcelona Comic Fair has remained unchanged for the last 36 years. It is true that for a while it also included the Manga Fair, until they parted ways to devote more space and time to their specific themes and audiences, but when we buy our tickets and enter the Fira de Barcelona complex we know just what to expect: we’ll be rummaging among exhibitors’ stands looking for the comics that we are missing a number of, seeking that rare first issue for our collection, hunting for autographs and listening in on conferences and roundtable discussions… So, once again, from 12 to 15 April, Barcelona is set to become the world capital of comics with four intense days of buying and selling, tracking down idols, and celebrating comics as a rich and valuable part of our culture.

One of the main attractions of the Comic Fair has always been its guests and its themed central events. This year, one of these thematic blocks will be the 60th anniversary of Mortadelo y Filemón, the famous secret agents created by Francisco Ibáñez, who are still active today. Ibáñez will talk about his characters with one of his biggest fans in Spain, actor and humourist Carlos Areces. Figures such as Fabrice Parme, the creator of Astrid Bromuro, Swedish filmmaker Liv Strömquist, and the French comics artist Souillon, the creator of the successful webcomic Maliki, will also attend the fair.
