15 projects selected for the next stage of Apps & Cultura contest

The jury appointed RedClash, Common Locals, Appish, Hey Moth!, La Bookeria, Magí Sanchón, Filmarket Hub, Kolobee, Kanaka, BitDistrict Technologies S.L., Marc García Sanchez, Upper-Andrés Barreto, Social Genium, Smart Tales and Myseum.

The ideas for applications contest Apps & Cultura, by Direcció de Creativitat i Innovació - Creativity and Innovation Directorate - at Institut de Cultura de Barcelona, has selected the projects to move to the next stage of the event. RedClash, Common Locals, Appish, Hey Moth!, La Bookeria, Magí Sanchón, Filmarket Hub, Kolobee, Kanaka, BitDistrict Technologies S.L., Marc Garcia Sánchez, Upper-Andrés Barreto, Social Genium, Smart Tales and Myseum were selected and will start their online training on 20th July.

The jury comprised of Inés Garriga, Creativity and Innovation Manager at Institut de Cultura; Pablo Casado, Chief Architect at Incubio Partners; Marisol López, Digital Department Manager at Institut Català d’Empreses Culturals; Alexis Culubret, Head of electronic procedures and new channels at Institut Municipal d’Informàtica of Ajuntament de Barcelona; and Sergi Fernandez, Audivisual Unit Manager at Fundació i2Cat. Among other points, the jury valued the projects’ accordance with the aims of the contest. The challenges posed to contestants consisted of either furnishing or promoting citizen access to culture or helping creative and cultural industry professionals consolidate and develop their activity. Apps & Cultura, an initiative by Direcció de Creativitat i Innovació, intends to combine the city’s culture with mobile application creative’s talent, with the purpose of harnessing the mobile environment’s potential, in the best interest of the creative sector and the whole of citizens.

Participants, from different and varied disciplines, assisted last 4th July to a training session at Fabra i Coats, where they presented their ideas in public. Moreover, they took part in activities to optimize and grasp their projects’ lacks and needs. Finally, after several team meetings, Apps & Cultura contestants recorded their presentations.

Training for selected projects will end on 25th September. On that same day, contest winners will be selected. Project monitoring will take place during the months of October, November and December and, finally, a presentation to prospective investors will take place in January 2016.
