The cycle includes a retrospective on the career of Polish filmmaker Krzysztof Zanussi

The 13th edition of the Catalonia Spiritual Film Cycle  is a series of films that aims to bring religious traditions to the cinema screen featuring titles that approach the theme from the perspective of spirituality, daily life and great challenges. The 2016 edition, which is set to run from 15 to 20 November, has an ambitious programme featuring a total of 20 titles that will be screened in 13 venues in Catalonia, six of which are in Barcelona: the Filmoteca de Catalunya, Verdi Park, the Cristianisme i Justícia study centre, Jesuïtes de Casp school, Lluïsos d’Horta and Centre Parroquial de Sarrià. The films are from 10 different countries and reflect practically all of the world’s confessions. Included is Isabel Coixet’s Learning to Drive.

The films will be introduced by specialists like priest and theologian Peio Sánchez, Barcelona city councillor Fàtima Taleb, activist Arcadi Oliveras, the spokesperson of the Sikh community in Catalonia Gagandeep Singh and the writer Agustí Pànikar. A highlight this year is the presence of the prestigious Polish director Krzysztof Zanussi, who will be the subject of a six-film retrospective.
