The 21 Olympic venues in Barcelona were grouped together in four large areas: Montjuïc, Diagonal, Vall d’Hebron and Parc del Mar.
The most well-known of these was Montjuïc, as it was home to the most significant venues: The Olympic Stadium, Palau Sant Jordi, INEFC, Bernat Picornell swimming pools, Montjuïc swimming pool, Palau de la Metal·lúrgia, Palau d’Esports de Barcelona, Pavelló l'Espanya Industrial, and Circuit de Cross and Pau Negre Stadium.
The Area of Diagonal had the FC Barcelona Stadium, the Palau Blaugrana, the Royal Polo Club and the RC Espanyol Stadium.
Vall d’Hebron was the setting of the Olympic events carried out at the Velodrome, the Archery range, the Pavelló de la Vall d’Hebron and the Vall d’Hebron Tennis courts.
Lastly, the Parc de Mar area was home to the Olympic Port, the Pavelló de la Mar Bella, the Estació del Nord multi-purpose sports centre and the Frontó Colom. Another singular amenity was the Olympic Village.
