Sport and integration combine at the TICB indoor football event, ACELL
TICB. Different indoor football teams for people with intellectual functional diversity meet this weekend to enjoy sport and two days together.
Over the weekend of 23 and 24 September, and coinciding with festivities for La Mercè, the city is hosting the International City of Barcelona Indoor Football Trophy – ACELL-Special Olympics Catalunya. The indoor football competition for people of functional diversity reaches its 8th edition with a firm place on the TICB calendar. The objective is the same as it has been from day one, to use sport to move forward with the social integration of people with functional diversity.
The tournament is on at the Mundet Mundet Municipal Sports Centreand is being organised by the Catalan Sports Federation for People with Intellectual Disabilities. Admission to the matches is free. The competition starts on Saturday 23 September at 10.30 am and concludes the following day at 1 pm.
As well as the four Catalan teams, other teams from around Europe will also be involved. The competition therefore has an international side to it, the idea being for participants to enjoy sport and two days living side by side.
