#BeActive for European Week of Sport
Events. European Week of Sport aims to increase the percentage of people getting regular exercise throughout the year and promote sport all around Europe.
European Week of Sport is on from 23 to 30 September. In 2015, the European Commission started the initiative to promote physical exercise all around Europe. The hashtag #BeActive is intended to encourage people to keep exercising this week, and throughout the year. The official inauguration of this year’s European Week of Sport will take place in the Estonian city of Tartu.
European Week of Sport 2017 keeps its existing structure, based on the following themes: educational environment, workplace, outdoor activities, and sports clubs and gyms. These four areas will be offering numerous activities and initiatives at various levels (European, national, regional and local). The different organising entities are inviting everyone to meet the challenge to #BeActive:
- Take a photo or make a video while you’re active.
- Use the hashtag #BeActive on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and add the hashtag #esportcat
- Challenge your friends to #BeActive
Barcelona, a leading city for sport
Barcelona came out in fourth place in the latest index of sport cities, and third in Europe, in a ranking by the company TSE Consulting and the magazine Around the Rings. The index is based on major sporting events held in cities, their public sports facilities and the active and healthy population of each one. London, Rio de Janeiro and Lausanne were the only cities to top the Catalan capital.
